"Phoenix" warm and colorful bright orange nunofelted wrap shawl

This cozy and large wrap shawl is dedicated to the mythological bird.. It has been handfelted from soft, top quality Italian merino wool, using patches of hand dyed Margilan silk. It's decorated with the variety of shiny Tussah silk threads, fleece locks and colorful yarn. It also has lovely rich and very spectacular texture, and is actually very warm.

'Nuno felting is a fabric felting technique developed by Polly Stirling, a fiber artist from New South Wales, Australia, around 1992. The name is derived from the Japanese word "nuno" meaning cloth. The technique bonds loose fibre, usually wool, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt. The fibres can completely cover the background fabric, or they may be used as a decorative design that allows the backing fabric to show. This were my nuno felting experiments...

'Impressionist poppies' white chiffon shawl in silver grey, sky blue and scarlet.
A length of soft airy white chiffon + thin layer of fine merino wool = this weightless, cozy and warm shawl.  I've made this light piece remembering those freshly calm countryside mornings and flowering, chirring and buzzing summer meadows.
There are soft touches of silver grey and light blue, and strokes of various grassy green color.

This wrap is quite large.
