I like working both with undyed and dyed wool, as each of the materials has 

some certain strong points. For instance, undyed wool gives clothes a very natural rustic look; its texture is smoother and shinier for it's not been damaged with chemicals.

(Above is the pillowcase, or pillow cover, made from undyed British wool and pure undyed fibres... I'll write some more about pillows in the next posting).

However, if you use only pure wool, you don't have a wide enough range of colours. Dyed wool, on the other hand, even though it sometimes feels too dried up when working with it, which doesn't affect the quality of the final product though, has one huge advantage: it offers a whole range of bold colours. For example:

Potyomkin (Потёмкин) scarf

I've made this scarf for a Russian friend of mine who's a guitar player. What he wanted was a simply elegant accessory that compliments the musician's style without attracting too much attention to itself, with minimalistic feel to it. I decided to use such subdued colours and add a bit of a shiny texture in order for it to look better on stage. I believe this garment creates a truly enigmatic look.
Russian winter turned out to be really long this year, so the scarf is still in use!

Cobwebs, clouds and poplar leaves

This is my brand new "Head in the clouds" scarf, made out of sky blue Merino wool and undyed silk cocoons. Approximate measurements: 179x23 cm ---> 70,4"x9".

And this is just a cobweb. It's made of British Wensleydale breed wool. Fibers of this wool are extremely long, glossy and curly. Decorated with strokes of golden Muga silk. It is huge, 240x30 cm ---> 94,4"x11,8".

This scarf is called "Poplar", it's made of mint color superfine Merino and decorated with patches of delicate green Margilan silk. It also has got those shimmering Mulberry silk threads.

Some of the recent shawls. The green one is a definite energy-booster, extremely bright and cheerful color mix.

On the contrary, the lilac and  blue one is subdued, cool and calm. 

The green shawl measures  170x35 cm ---> 66,9"x13,7".

The blue is  138x32 cm ---> 54,3"x12,5".

Length of fleece locks 18-20 cm ---> 7-7,8" (extra long).

Shepherdess

Here come some new pieces -- nunofelted shawls with wonderful texture combinations and a fringe of cute curly  fleece locks. They both are double sided, one side is velvety and warm, another's silk and glossy.

This one is ivory and golden, with crispy white fleece. Extremely airy and lightweight, very delicate..

Measures 158x33 cm ---> 62,2"x12,9".

This wrap is chocolate and oatmeal. It's more thick than the previous one, hence warmer, but still very soft and easy to drape. Measures  160x35 cm ---> 62,9"x13,7". 

Mountain top

This classy neckwarmer was made of undyed ivory superfine Italian merino wool, very warm and cozy, it's texture very soft and delicate, decorated with crispy white woolen yarn. The color is mild milky white. The scarf has two chunky polymer clay buttons handmade by me, so you can wear it in many different ways, as shown on the pics.

Approximate measurements: 102x22 cm -- 40,1"x8,6".

Sea foam scarf

This lovely nuno felted scarf is made out of undyed, ivory color Bluefaced Leicester wool and natural margilan silk. It is thin yet extremely warm and cozy, easy to drape and soft to touch. Combines two fabulous textures of velvety wool and airy, shiny silk. Perfect for a winter/spring white wedding, of course.

Approximate measurements: 134X35 cm --> 52,7"x13,7".

Fields of Dublin

This is a rather big wearable "canvas" with a dreamy landscape... Who's going to make the bright blue sky above Dublin, with those cute lamb-like clouds... who but me?.. The picturesque, colorful and large (really large) scarf, made to order for Lisa A., who lives relatively close to Dublin :)
50" long x 20" wide; made of superfine soft merino, decorated with dyed fleece curls.

Of a tree huggers and polar explorers

Two scarves opening the "Watercolor" collection, one cold and icy - another is hot and tropical :) They both are decorated with lovely curly fleece locks and hand dyed tussah and mulberry silk threads. "Rainforest" measures approximately  130x30 cm --> 51,1"x11,8" without curls.

"Aurora borealis" is a tiny bit bigger,  131x35 cm --> 51,5"x13,7" without curls.

 

Dandelion valley

This is a beautiful picturesque wet felted scarf made of superfine Italian merino and decorated with Mulberry silk threads, tencel threas and silkworm cocoons. Very lightweight, soft and pleasant to touch. All the materials I've used are 100% natural and eco friendly, including the olive soap this piece was wet felted with. Tender and dreamy.
Approximate measurements: 128x38 cm --> 50,3"x14,9".

Mistletoe xoxoxo

Merry Christmas anticipation! :)

This is the unique and totally handmade - handfelted and handstitched - set of proper winter gear, warm mittens and neckwarmer in hues of green, with bunches of mistletoe berries and leaves. It's made (wet felted) of super fine Italian merino wool. Mittens have been shaped on my own palm while still wet, so they sit comfortably. Neckwarmer has the big old reused button, it's very comfy and cozy. And IS very festive, too!

Measurements: neckwarmer is 24"x7,4".

Mittens are 9,8" long and rather S to M size, will fit palm girth up to 9,5".

Bombelki, magic polka dot bright red and navy blue handbag+scarf art set

This is a cozy large scarf + handbag art set in red - blue - light violet color combination, with those magic circles :) The set is wet felted, scarf's been made of super fine Italian merino wool, the bag is made of locally manufactured Russian troitskaya wool, for it's more sturdy than merino and won't wear out quickly. Scarf has a fringe with handmade polymer clay beads modeled by me.

The handbag actually is pretty solid and tightly felted, will keep the initial shape, is drizzle and snow resistant, perfect for all those gray dark winter days (cheer up!), furnished with a magnet button snap.

scarf : 156x26 cm --> 61,4"x10,2" without fringe.
bag: 34x36 cm --> 13,3"x14,1".

'Morning freshness' victorian style petit shoulder purse on a long chain

The elegant and feminine nuno-felted purse, made of champagne yellow color fine wool with stripes of light pink chiffon, goes together with a flower brooch of the same color. Attached to the antique-color frame and hand stitched.

Approximate measurements: 21,5 cm wide x 19 cm tall -- 8,2" wide x 7,4" tall.
The chain is 25,5" long.

'The Grand Canyon' rock brown, orange and yellow ocher wet felted clutch

I was inspired by the pictures of the Grand Canyon I happened to see, so I created such a clutch as a result :) It consists of fine merino wool and hemp (cannabis) threads (I used hemp threads because they're not exactly white, they have that weathered yellowish color I needed).

I also used recycled magnet snap and recycled big wooden button.

The bag has a small pocket for a cell phone inside, and is totally seamless and solid.
Approximate measurements: 33 cm wide (bottom) x 19 cm tall x 2 cm deep -- 12,9" wide x 7,4" tall x 0,79" deep.

'Enchanted mermaid' deep blue clutch with white water lily brooch

That verse put me in a mood and somehow inspired me to create this purse. Solemn gloom of deep waters and smooth fog of the night. This piece turned out to be very beautifully shaped and has spectacular colors in it, too.

The gorgeous kiss clasp frame, taffeta lining inside, also goes together with the water lily brooch.

Approximate measurements: 24 cm tall x 35 cm wide (the widest part of the bottom) -- 9" tall x 13,7" wide, without the frame. The diameter of the brooch is approx. 16 cm -- 6,3".
